Project partners are seeking developer interest for this exciting regeneration project.

The Chester City Gateway Project is a formal collaboration between Cheshire West and Chester Council, Network Rail and LCR. Focused on exploring development and regeneration opportunities around Chester Railway Station there is an exciting opportunity to deliver transformational change, including delivering c600 new homes, high quality public realm and making Chester railway station a world class experience.

The plan’s five Key Moves will underpin development in the gateway:

  • An improved Chester Railway Station experience – creating an enhanced gateway into the city with improved public realm.

  • Supporting greater accessibility and prioritisation of walking and cycling – introducing a new pedestrian and cycle bridge, improved walking and cycling routes to create an integrated transport hub.

  • Consolidating and improving car parking – positioning car parking to better reflect the needs of station users.

  • Delivering high quality placemaking and public realm – creating a place where people want to live, spend time or work.

  • Meeting local housing need – diversifying the housing offer for local people in an area of high demand but low supply.

Chester One City Plan

Since 2012, Chester has taken a strategic long-term view of how the city could evolve and thrive. Our One City Plan sets out a vision for a modern, vibrant city where the public, private and community sectors are working together to make Chester a fairer, stronger, and greener city.

First published in 2012, the One City Plan set out a strategic vision and regeneration priorities for the future of Chester over a 15-year period. This resulted in over fifty projects with a combined investment of almost £1 billion.

These projects have all created jobs, increased tourism and given Chester a positive economic boost, see more here. We have achieved a lot but there’s much more to do.
